When the time came to redo this Bach’s decking, thought was given to maximise capital expenditure by adding some functional storage below. Squaring off one corner extended the deck by one metre and optimised the local (TCDC) consent boundary constraints, resulting in a 21m² space underneath. Coordination of the drainage and waterproofing is key to the success of the project. The new deck with subfloor storage space will be a standalone structure, so as not to disturb the existing building, however the new deck will visually link them together.
